“You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” – Ansel Adams

Many childhood experiences of exploring nature everywhere -- from the bees that pollinated flowers in my mother’s gardens to the creeks alongside the dirt back roads up north -- imprinted a love of the natural world that now influences my art. Early in my career, I focused on what I thought my audience would want. Now, my work reflects what I love the most about life and my photography has taken on new possibilities for which I am eternally grateful.

The act of making an exceptional photographic image is so much more than clicking the shutter on an expensive camera. Rather, it begins with the photographer’s heart and soul long before the moment of capture. All photographs are “manipulated” in a sense. The point of view, the lens selection, even the decision to click the shutter at that moment in time is a way of manipulating the image. Post-processing adds to the artistic intent in a way that no one other than the photographer can do.

Each of the images in these collections has two stories – its own story and my own story. I distinctly recall the time and place where I made each image. I recall the emotional connection then and later as the image developed artistically in my computer. There is no way for me to disconnect from these images; they will always be a part of me. And now I offer them to you. Remember that you are viewing the artist as well as the art itself.

My recent art and photography education includes course work with renowned instructors at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Maine Media Workshops, Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, Pacific Northwest Art School and Rocky Mountain School of Photography, as well as local seminars and workshops.

Besides frequent appearances in juried and solo exhibitions my award-winning work is currently exhibited at WE Energies, Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, Northwestern Mutual Life, American Transmission Corp., Lake Country Gallery in Pewaukee, Main Street Gallery in Cedarburg, and on Exclusively Yours Magazine covers.
